fish-to-fork day tour
farmer's MEAL & natural WINE TASTING
IN a SLOW FOOD MODE
This experience will take you behind the scenes of a Barcelona Slow Food restaurant to visit its eco farm and Barceloneta’s fish market. Outdoors seasonal farmer’s lunch and natural wines included!
We will take you to Sant Pol de Mar, to experience the daily work routine of slow food starred restaurants Somorrostro & Rebelot to see how the food makes its way from the garden and from the sea to the table. We will visit their organic (and biodynamic!) orchards together with Andrés, the owner himself. We will learn from the farmer-in-chief about sustainable seasonal farming and will spend time enjoying a relaxed day in the nature. To top off our morning we will savor homemade regional dishes prepared on the spot by the local peasant Rafel, paired with natural wines from Catalonia & Spain.
Back in Barcelona’s maritime barrio, we will understand how the restaurant gets their fresh fish from La Barceloneta fish market, which takes place at the fishermen harbor and is opened only for professional guided visits like ours. The marine biologists of El Peix al Plat will describe different fishing techniques and more peculiarities of this ancient profession, guiding us also through the daily fish auction! Such experience allows us to get in touch with the Mediterranean biodiversity by learning about the wide variety of fishery products. You will learn about the environmental impact we cause on the seas and what we all can do about it as consumers.
To end up and celebrate this ‘slow-spectacular’ day we will finally sit down at Somorrostro or Rebelot restaurant to taste a delicious seafood tapa and a glass of wine in La Barceloneta.
